The Founders
Dennis and Peggy have been married for 52 years and have 3 sons and 2 grandchildren. Their desire to minister to men in crisis is rooted in their past experiences and painful struggles.
At the age of 9, Dennis found himself abandoned and neglected, wandering the streets. For the next 7 years he was involved in street gangs, selling drugs, and living with no purpose or direction.
Peggy grew up in an abusive home; her parents were alcoholics and at times very violent. She learned first hand that these situations always leave victims behind.
Dennis and Peggy ran away and got married at a young age. With no direction and the pressures of being a husband and provider, Dennis turned back to drugs and alcohol to get through life.
13 years later, Dennis accepted Christ, was saved, and instantly delivered from his drug addictions. Peggy also accepted Christ and soon they begin to work with the Union Rescue Mission, ministering to the homeless. They eventually moved from the inner city to the country and started New Beginnings.

New Beginnings
New Beginnings is a non-profit organization focused on helping men in crisis by ministering to the whole man. We are NOT a rehabilitation facility but rather a spiritual bootcamp that sees men's lives changed through the Word of God and leadership of the Holy Spirit.
New Beginnings is located in Houston, Arkansas. The quiet, rural setting allows for a slower pace of life conducive to physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Room and board are provided as well as counseling specifically designed to addess the various addictions of each of the residents. Currently the facilities can house about 15 men which allows for the essential element of one-on-one ministry. There is a constant waiting list, and new residents are brought in as soon as graduates leave.
New Beginnings offers a long term approach to help men in crisis. Many 60-120 day, short term programs only provide a band-aid to mask the deeper problems of men with addictions. By maintaining a long term program of about 12 months, the success rate of the program is 64% (substantially higher than any state run facility).
Residents live in 3-6 man cabins with each cabin operating as a family unit. The men are required to keep their cabin neat and clean and perform daily chores on the grounds such as maintenance, tending to livestock, etc. While at New Beginnings the men are also required to work in either the auto body shop, woodworking shop, storage warehouse, the kitchen, or the resale store. Through this men are taught a strong work ethic that is much needed after graduation from the program. Residents are also taught typing and computer skills as well as a general education; men may work for an accredited diploma or a GED. New Beginnings is accredited through the National Association of Street Schools.
Most importantly, the men's spiritual needs are addressed. The residents are required to attend Bible study and all church activities as well as various support groups and programs offered on site. Through these activities the men learn together and provide encouragement for each other.
